Anoka Arrestees Need Help

Two weeks ago, nine people were arrested at a nonviolent demonstration against the Iraq war for participating in civil disobedience at a an ATK ammunitions plant in Anoka, Minnesota while protesting war profiteering. Each were charged with the maximum penalty—three misdemeanors—and the group is collectively facing fines and fees currently estimated to come to an overwhelming $11,000. While we have many resources at our disposal for resisting the war, including time, energy, and an unwavering commitment to confronting those who directly prosper from war and occupation, we do not have access to this kind of funding. We are writing to all those we know who also believe that the war should be brought to an immediate end to ask for financial contributions in order to help get us through this difficult time.

Help us by:
1) personally donating to our legal fund
2) personally contacting people you know who would support the cause and could donate
3) send out an announcement about his/how to give over your respective listservs, and/or
4) host/co-host a fundraising event to help us with donations.

Through private donations, we've been able to raise around $1000 so far with average contributions being around $100. For information on where to send checks/who to make them out to, please contact sophie.smith@gmail.com.

Thank you for all of your help and support,
Project to Stop the War Industry (PSWI)
